WHAT WE DO
Sabar Afghan Online School aims to provide education to Afghan children using visual methodology delivered through YouTube and other platforms. Using technology to deliver education is a very effective way to reach girls who have been banned from education and educate children in remote or underserved areas, as well as those who may not have access to traditional brick and mortar schools
UNICEF SAYS,

Bad governance and insurgency deprived millions of Afghan children of the much needed education, literacy and numeracy skills.

+3 MILLION KIDS
3 million children in Afghanistan do not have access to education

BOTH GENDERS ARE AFFECTED
Both boys and girls are affected in this humanitarian crisis

ELEVATED EFFECT ON GIRLS
girls are disproportionately affected due to additional barriers to education such as cultural norms or poverty.
HOW WE DO IT
Education For All
We have embarked on this incredible mission to teach the Afghan school curriculum from class 1 to class 12 and have explained each class’s subjects page by page. The videos are effectively organized by class number in Playlists on YouTube and accessible free to the public without any restriction. The material is also available to on hard drives and distributed to communities with limited internet access.

Accessible for everyone on YouTube

Hard drives are distributed to communities
WHAT MAKE OUR PROGRAMME UNIQUE

All Female Teachers
Courses are taught by female teachers
we have employed all female teachers since women have been excluded from the public and government spaces by the de facto government to show our solidarity with the female gender.

Prioritizes girls schooling
Aims to address the negativity towards girls' education
We acknowledge the existence of negativity towards girl's education in some layers of the Afghan society and aim to counter that with awareness and incentives. Our project prioritizes girls schooling and facilitates their education by giving free books, pens, electronic devices etc so that more girls receive education and the stigma towards female education and work is broken.

Special care for group of girls who are restricted
Accelerated teaching programme for girls past grade 6 who are banned from schooling
The current administration has banned girls’ education past grade 6. Sabar Afghan Online School has not forgotten this group of students and we have accelerated our teaching program to ensure girls can continue their education from home.
WHAT SPURRED THIS PROJECT

Girls are banned from education.

Not enough primary and secondary schools, and a majority of children have no access to education due to lack of schools in their areas.

Schools are poorly funded and resourced and therefore teachers are unqualified resulting in substandard education for students.

Majority of Afghans are too poor to send their children to cities and pay exorbitant school fees and lodging.

IMPORTANCE OF ONLINE EDUCATION FOR AFGHAN CHILDREN
Girls have been banned by the de facto government from going out of their homes to school and work. Online education is the only way for them to continue their learning.
In some parts of Afghanistan, children do not have access to traditional brick and mortar schools due to a lack of infrastructure or insecurity. Online education can provide an alternative way for these children to access education.
Online education can be flexible, allowing children to access educational materials and complete assignments at their own pace. This can be especially helpful for children who may have other responsibilities, such as caring for younger siblings or helping with household tasks.
Online education can provide access to high-quality educational materials and resources that may not be available in traditional schools. This can help ensure that children in Afghanistan have the opportunity to learn and grow to their full potential.
Online education can also provide a safer learning environment for children in Afghanistan, particularly for girls, who may face additional barriers to education such as discrimination or harassment.
